Corey Pavin has made the golf news by naming a number of veterans as assistants for the US Ryder Cup 2010 team.

The US Ryder Cup team are set to don their golf clothing this year safe in the knowledge that they are backed up by the experience of Tom Lehman and Davis Love III.

American captain Corey Pavin announced yesterday (February 3rd) that the veteran golfers will be his assistants during the prestigious event, along with Jeff Sluman and Paul Goydos.

Following the statement, Paving told the press: "I believe that the strength to any team, especially in the Ryder Cup, stems from the support staff you have behind the ropes and in the locker room."

He added that the players will add "experience", a proven ability to cope under pressure in major events and a "fresh perspective".

Lehman captained the US team in 2006 at the K Club in Kildare, Ireland and has played in Ryder Cups throughout his career, while Love III has participated in six.
