Ian Poulter was in a purple patch in more ways than one on Sunday, as he strode through a round of 64 shots in striking purple tartan golf trousers.

Did Ian Poulter's eye-catching golf trousers bring him luck on the closing day of the World Golf Championships (WGC) CA Championship? The golf fashion icon could have used some good fortune after neck strain almost led him to withdraw from the contest before its Thursday (March 11th) start date.
"It was frustrating to get the start I did, but I feel my golf game is in shape," Poulter admitted.
His remarkable golf trousers for the final day's play on Sunday may well have proved to be more than just a golf fashion statement.
The purple tartan, teamed with a white golf shirt, white-rimmed sunglasses and white visor, saw him through a round of 64.
His impressive performance opened with an eagle, followed up by seven birdies to set him on the path towards one of his best rounds of all time on the US Tour.
Poulter has been the toast of the golfing community over the past month after finding success in the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, for which legends including Nick Faldo and Arnold Palmer got in touch with him to share their congratulations.
