Ian Woosnam has said he is looking forward to defending his title when he hits the links at the Handa Irish Seniors Open in Glenmuir golf apparel. The player explained that the only other championships he has won have been in Russia and Poland and he was not able to return as defending champion at those courses.
Woosnam remarked that it is "always special" for him to go back to Ireland, due to the success he has enjoyed there while out on the links in golf clothing.
"I'm still searching for a bit of form at the moment but I'm hopeful I will be ready to defend my crown at Carton House," explained the veteran.
The Glenmuir-sponsored golfer produced a great display at the Ballybunion Golf Club in 2009 to score the title, defeating Bob Boyd in a playoff after being six shots behind.
Play begins tomorrow (June 11th) at the Montgomerie Course at Carton House this year, with the prize pot set at 250,000 (£206,000).
