Ian Woosnam is set to don his golf apparel and go head to head with Sam Torrance in a new Senior European Tour event, it has been revealed.

Sam Torrance is set to don his golf apparel and tee off against rival Ian Woosnam in a new Senior European Tour event in South Africa, he has announced.

According to the ex-Ryder Cup captain Torrance, he will join Woosnam in the field for the inaugural Berenberg Bank Masters from March 26th to 28th.

He will be hoping he can maintain the good form he showed last season and overcome his competitor again after he topped the 2009 Senior Tour Order of Merit just ahead of the Welshman.

"It will be great to go up against Woosie and hopefully I can come out on top again," he said.

He added: "I'm playing well at the moment and feel confident every time I go out and play."

The Berenberg Masters will be the first Senior European Tour event to be held in South Africa and will take place on the Fancourt Links Course.
