New golf news about the Omega Mission Hills World Cup has been announced.

Golf news about the World Cup has been revealed.The golfing calendar for 2011 is set to see the addition of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, golf news which many people are "understandably excited" about, it has been said.

Speaking on behalf of the International Federation of PGA Tours, George O'Grady, chief executive of the European Tour, said the move to hold the World Cup every odd year follows the announcement that golf will return to the Olympics from 2016.

Indeed, a joint announcement by the International Golf Association, International Federation of PGA Tours, Omega and Mission Hills revealed that from 2011, the World Cup will be played in alternate years from next year.

The event also remains the only team event for men where players can represent their own countries.

However, it will now take place at the newly opened Mission Hills Resort Hainan, on Hainan Island in southern China.

Between 2007-09, the World Cup took place at Mission Hills Shenzhen, China.

"The impressive new Mission Hills complex at Hainan Island will offer a new experience for our players and for fans from around the world," added Mr O'Grady.

The European Tour strives to ensure that throughout all tournaments played around the world, it always adheres to good practice regarding sustainability and the environment.
