A sports writer has condemned 2010 US Ryder Cup team's golf apparel woes, comparing them to an episode of Seinfeld.Writing for Fanhouse, columnist David Whitely believes that the US team should not have had to borrow its rain gear.
"This was the worst uniform faux pas since George Costanza was named assistant to the travelling secretary for the New York Yankees," he said.
Mr Whitley went on to explain the premise of the classic Seinfeld episode, in which George convinces the Yankees' manager into switching from polyester to cotton uniforms, with hilarious results.
He condemned the excessive micromanagement of captain Corey Pavin and wife Lisa and noted that, despite the self-proclaimed "captainess'" planning, the US team was let down by their golf apparel failure.
Last month, golf fashion blogger the Khaki Crusader commended the work of Lisa Pavin in designing the 2010 US kits, expressing approval for the uniform's "retro" feel.
