A more relaxed attitude to golf clothing helping to create a more laid-back atmosphere may be one of the reasons why the Wynyard golf club has continued to enjoy success throughout the recession. The club is home to the Wellington course, which has hosted international events such as the Seve Trophy in the past.
But there are other reasons people are drawn to the club.
Marketing manager at Wynyard Sheena Griffiths told the region's Journal Live: "Whilst there is a smart dress code in place, it is less formal than other clubs and this has created a much more relaxed clubhouse environment for all to enjoy."
She added that there is a positive buzz around the course, and that opening up the facilities to non-members has also helped ensure that the golf club remains a popular destination.
Offering products such as designer clothing at the site, as well as youth golf equipment and other attractions, may help to attract the next generation of players, she added.
Earlier this month, golf clothing was very much top of the agenda for one golf player, Wrexham's Evening Leader said. Breanne Loucks modelled Glenmuir golf tops designed in support of the cancer charity Tenovus - the official charity partner of the Ryder Cup Wales 2010.
