Chelsea Curtis found golf apparel just the thing to brave the cold for President Obama's inaugurationAt least one member of the crowd at new president Barack Obama's inauguration was wearing golf apparel, it has been revealed.

Golf Week reports that Chelsea Curtis, a senior human biology major at Georgetown, pulled on layers of golf clothing as she set out to the event at 05:00 local time.

Clad in warm golf apparel, she headed down to the Washington Monument and the National Mall - in front of the Capitol building where Obama was due to be inaugurated.

There she was met with long queues of crowd members waiting to get their morning cup of coffee, reports Golf Week.

Carly Hunt, also from Georgetown attended the event and, as a player at the college herself, she too is no stranger to golf clothing.

This time however, she traded in her golf clothes for a ball gown as she headed to the Youth Inaugural Ball.

She witnessed the newly inaugurated president dancing on stage with his wife before telling the younger crowd members they had just seen "old school" moves.

However, the Telegraph notes that President Obama has some work ahead of him if he is to outclass former President Bush on the course, following his predecessor's infamous quote: "Now watch this drive."
