The unlikely pairing of golf fashion starlet Natalie Gulbis and comedian Joan Rivers has arisen.

Ladies' golf fashion icon Natalie Gulbis has revealed that she has a new source for style tips - Joan Rivers.

Gulbis tells 411mania of her fear of the acerbic comedian and how she might comment on her choice of clothing while filming The Celebrity Apprentice.

"Every morning as I was getting dressed I would think, 'What is Joan Rivers going to say about this?'" she reveals.

The news might come as a surprise from Gulbis, who has become something of a golf fashion icon in her own right.

Her modelling career has involved appearances on the pages of FHM, as well as hosting her own series on the Golf Network.

But she adds that she believes her looks have helped in her career - even leading her to pose for a swimsuit calendar and take similar risks.

Rivers, meanwhile, is no stranger to the golf course, as her memoirs Bouncing Back reveal.

She writes in the preface that, when considering being struck by lightning while on the fairway, she decided the headlines would likely read: "Joan Rivers Goes Golfing."
