Obama's female aide asked to don golf clothing and join president's regular golf game.
Published: 27 October 2009
US president Barack Obama invited his chief domestic adviser Melody Barnes to play a game of golf with him and two other men last weekend, following claims that an earlier White House sporting event drew criticism for being sexist.Last month, the president played a game of basketball with a number of men from both the cabinet and Congress, which saw him be accused of being sexist by some.
"Charges are flying that Mr Obama runs an administration whose innermost councils resemble nothing so much as a sports-obsessed jocks' club," noted the Independent newspaper.
On Sunday (October 25th), Ms Barnes donned her golf apparel and took to the golf course with the president and two other players.
Pictures published in the Independent showed Ms Barnes wearing khaki-coloured golf trousers and a cap.
Mr Obama also donned a cap and wore a white short-sleeved golf shirt in a polo style, teamed with stone coloured trousers.
