Stupples victorious in ladies championshipGolfer Karen Stupples has won the S4C Wales Ladies Championship of Europe event.

The golf event, which took place over the weekend at the Royal St David's Golf Club in Harlech, was the first tournament that Stupples has won since her appearance at the 2004 Women's British Open at Sunningdale.

Stupples finished the tournament with a score of 12-under-par 276, which gave her a one-stroke win over South Korean golfer Amy Yang.

Both players got a bogey on the final hole of the golf course and Yang finished with a score of 11 under.

Commenting on the game, Stupples said: "I think the front nine set me off to a fine start. I went off to a really good one and from that point on I sat back I think instead of keeping attacking. It was interesting."

Stupples may be even more pleased with this latest victory as just last week, she was denied the chance to don her golf apparel and take to the course in the Solheim Cup, after not making the European team.
