Individuals should be able to have fun and express themselves when it comes to golf clothing, the organiser of a charity golf fundraiser has said.

When it comes to golf apparel, some women just want to have fun and stand out.

One such person is Laura Chung, who told Patch.com that when she is on the golf course nice clothing is great.

The lawyer, who organised a foursome event to raise money for the Palisades-Malibu YMCA in the US, noted there is much more opportunity to be fashionable when playing the sport than there used to be.

"We're all wearing matching outfits because that's what it's all about for women," Ms Chung remarked.

She continued by saying that "it's more about having fun" when they are taking part and her friends all support each other if they hit a bad shot.

Ms Chung added that if more ladies found out how much entertainment there is to be had from the pastime, then more of them might take it up.

At present, she thinks 80 per cent of the membership of the Malibu Country Club - which is located in the Santa Monica Mountians - is male.
