Sir Michael Caine has not played golf since one encounter with Sir Sean ConneryVeteran actor Sir Michael Caine has revealed how fellow performer Sir Sean Connery's legendary temper once manifested itself so fiercely on the golf course it put him off playing the sport ever again.

In his autobiography, the Get Carter and Italian Job star revealed that he once put on some golf apparel for a quick round with the former 007, but his showing didn't meet Connery's evidently high standards - prompting a temper tantrum.

"Sean has a terrible temper and when he tried to teach me golf he was so incensed by my performance that he grabbed my club and broke it in two," he explained. "I have never played golf since."

Several famous Hollywood faces were spotted sporting golf fashion at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship recently as part of a celebrity amateur tournament, with Samuel L Jackson and Bill Murray among the big names hitting the fairways.

Former footballer turned Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp and broadcaster Chris Evans also participated in the event at Kingsbarns, according to the Daily Mail.
