There may be Ryder Cup shirts on display at Oliver Wilson's golf dayRyder Cup shirts could be the order of the day at a fundraising golf event being hosted by top player Oliver Wilson, who played in the 2008 edition of the prestigious competition.

Wilson was one of four rookies that Nick Faldo took with him for that tournament after the golfer enjoyed an impressively consistent season.

Attendees at the player's upcoming celebrity golf day may wish to pay tribute to his inclusion in that line-up by arriving in their own Ryder Cup shirts.

There should be plenty of famous faces dressed up in golf apparel for the day, with former British Lions rugby star Tim Stimpson confirmed as the Master of Ceremonies for the dinner-dance taking place after the competition has finished.

Money raised from the day - to be held on June 24th - will go to Nottingham-based charity Dare, which promotes the use of sporting activities outside school, according to Wilson.

Despite underperforming in his last few games, Wilson remarked in his blog that he is "upbeat" about his game.
