What lies beneath golf apparel? If the Seattle Times is to be believed, girdles are increasingly the answer.
Published: 05 December 2008
Budding golfers have been told to strap on a girdle under their golf apparel if they wish to improve their swing. The Seattle Times reports that a better swing is just one of the benefits to be derived from wearing a girdle.
And the publication notes that, among men, the undergarments are growing in popularity.
John Pearce, founder of Brazilian Shapewear, tells the publication: "There's been a real buzz about men's corsets in particular."
The Seattle Times adds that research from NPD Group shows sales of such items are growing three times as fast among men as they are among women.
Such figures could indicate that more girdles are being strapped on beneath golf apparel on the world's fairways.
The Irish Times recently reported on research from Dublin City University in which sensors have been fitted to golf apparel in order to analyse individuals' swings.
