Tourists in Tenerife may not know whether to don their golf clothing or a loincloth in order to best fit into the San Blas community.

Loincloths may not seem like an obvious addition to golf clothing, but in Tenerife they could help tourists to get into the local spirit. The Daily Mail reports about the San Blas Environmental Reserve, which was originally intended to become a golf course.
However, locals have now swapped their golf clothing for loincloths after the discovery of a network of primitive caves in the area.
"San Blas - which opened last December - was earmarked to become a golf course," the publication explains.
"But when a year-long clearance operation uncovered ancient caves and artefacts, it was turned into a nature reserve."
Locals in loincloths now play the part of Guanches - North African shepherds who settled on the Canaries 2,000 years ago.
However, conventional golf apparel may still be a wise addition to any suitcase for enthusiasts of the sport.
The Tenerife Tourism Corporation reveals that there are opportunities to don golf apparel and head out to the fairway on the island - as well as discounts on green fees for visitors who stay in particular hotels.
