Policeman David Rathband, who was in the headlines last year after being left blinded by gunman Raoul Moat, sported golf apparel to triumph in a special 18-hole game. The match saw Mr Rathband take a points prize despite going up against full-sighted players with handicaps between 12 and 24, the Daily Mirror reports.
Organiser David Martin, of the Northumberland Referees' Association, said: "He ended up gaining the most points for his section so won the individual prize. He is an inspiration to us all."
Peter Sweeney, a friend of Mr Rathband, described him as an accomplished player who loves to head out on the golf course.
Mr Sweeney added that no matter how frustrating his mate found it on the fairways, he never gave up and "did really well".
After suffering facial injuries at the hands of Mr Moat in 2010, Mr Rathband set up the Blue Lamp Foundation to help members of the emergency services who are injured while carrying out their job.
