Golf news: Tiger Woods slumps to record defeat

The former world number one is struggling to regain top form Blue golf clothing failed to inspire Tiger Woods during his matchplay round at the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne yesterday (November 16th).

The former world number one and partner Steve Stricker succumbed to the joint largest losing margin in the tournament's history as they were defeated 7&6 by KJ Choi and Adam Scott.

Even though this heavy loss affected their team's scorecard, the US still lead their opponents - made up of professionals from the rest of the world apart from Europe - by 4-2 overall going into the second day.

Woods, who came up against former caddy Steve Williams for the first time, said his and Stricker's poor performance on the opening holes cost them.

"They got off to a quick start and we just couldn't keep up," he noted.

This comes after it was recently announced that South Korea will host the 2015 President's Cup, with the venue for the competition to be revealed next year.
