Golf apparel under scrutiny at tournament.A golf tournament set to take place in the US next month calls for some strict golf fashion rules.

According to TampaBay.com, the Eighth Annual Redneck Golf Tournament will take place at the Quail Ridge Golf Course in Spring Hill on April 20th.

The source notes that the event "has unorthodox rules that are strictly enforced".

Golfers are not allowed to wear golf shirts with collars to take to the course and they are also given permission to not wear golf trousers as wearing jeans is encouraged.

Gamers are also limited to the use of three clubs and must play with a putter which is provided by the event organisers.

One golfer recently spoke to the Chicago Tribune about his difficulty with finding golf clothes.

In an article entitled "a golf rookie's lament", Steve Dahl notes that he has "always worn Hawaiian shirts to camouflage his weight", noting that golf shirts "make him look like a bratwurst in a microwave that is ready to explode".

He says that while he owns a number of different golf shirts, they tend to make his weight obvious.
