Gloves could be a wise buy for golfers playing in cold weather.A golfer had to send out for extra items of golf apparel after starting to feel chilly when teeing off.

An article in the Sidmouth Herald notes that when taking part in the Sidmouth Senior Open last Sunday, starter Barry Jones had to "send an SOS to his wife" after feeling cold on the course.

In total, the event attracted 111 players from the Sidmouth club and 18 other clubs in the south-west of England.

When taking to the golf course on a cold day, players may be wise to wear extra layers of golf apparel or even a pair of golf gloves.

Among the other events on the same day was the Sidmouth Juniors Open, which saw 57 players don their golf fashion items and take to the golf course.

Winners in the junior contest included George Barber, James Winchester and Jack Hodge, who are all fielded from Sidmouth-based clubs.
