Hollywood actor Steve Carell, star of comedies such as Anchorman and Little Miss Sunshine, could soon be spotted wearing golf clothing as he has signed up for a film about the game.

Carell is set to play the lead role in the golf comedy Missing Links, which will be based on a book by ESPN writer Rick Reilly.

Commenting on the golf news, Travel Golf said that Missing Links is "one of the five best and funniest fictional golf pieces ever".

Set in the city of Boston in the US, Missing Links tells the story about a gang of normal golf playing men who are trying to move up in the world from their city golf course to a prestigious country club.

Golfers who are fans of the book could be looking forward to heading to the cinema and checking out what kind of golf fashion Carell wears in the film.
