Michael Phelps is set to line up in golf apparel alongside a whole host of famous faces from the worlds of sports and entertainment.

Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps could be set to hit the links in golf clothing this autumn in a Pro-Am tournament in China.

The athlete will be tutored by former Tiger Woods coach Hank Haney before he takes to the field in his golf apparel, according to Reuters.

Swimming enthusiasts may be accustomed to seeing the star in just a pair of trunks, but now the audience will get to see what sort of golf fashion Phelps opts for, with the tournament due to take place from October 28th to 31st.

He won an impressive eight golds at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China and he will return to the same country to compete for a $1.28 million (£850,000) prize at the Mission Hills Star Trophy Pro-Am.

Two other famous faces who have been confirmed to appear at the contest are actors Hugh Grant and Matthew McConaughey.

From the world of professional golf, two-time Open Championship winner Greg Norman will be among the most recognisable names.
