Colin Montgomerie may spark interest in golf fashion among youngsters in Newport after visiting a children's library in the town.

A visit by European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie could spark off increased demand for golf gifts after a series of youngsters got the chance to meet the legendary player.

The golfer looked smart in a blue men's knitwear jumper and grey golf trousers as he visited a children's library in Newport, which is nearby to the layout where the Ryder Cup will be played.

He shared a passage from a Harry Potter book with the youngsters and his presence may inspire a few of the children to try their hand at golf, for which they would need golf apparel.

Glenmuir is an official European Ryder Cup supplier and the competition will be arriving at Celtic Manor on October 1st.

In a recent blog post, Montgomerie said he cannot wait for it to begin and congratulated Luke Donald for his win in the Madrid Masters, stating he has a big future in the game.
