Golf fashion is more classic than in the past, it has been claimed.

The golf apparel sported by male golfers could once have been described as outlandish, but on-course golf clothing today is now "subdued and classic", it has been claimed.

Writing for the St Louis Post Dispatch, sports writer Joe Holleman notes that "what once had been the domain of men dressing badly - fluorescent double-knit pants, dizzying printed polo shirts and silly caps" has taken on a different golf fashion look.

He comments that at a recent golf event in the area, the golf fashion was more basic and featured less bright colours.

Eric Flowers, the manager of the Forest Park golf shop, told the source that the crazy golf fashions of old are "pretty much gone".

Nowadays, golfers go for a more classic golf clothing look, he said, with knit polo golf shirts and tan or grey khaki pants forming part of the modern golf apparel wardrobe.

It was recently noted that golfers should make sure their golf clothing is suitable for the weather conditions they are playing in.
