A new practice area has been opened in Scotland by golf apparel ambassador Paul Lawrie. The former Open champion and Glenmuir-sponsored star headed to his home country to do the honours at the new £50,000 facility at Nairn Dunbar, reports the Inverness Courier.
Lawrie stated that he is sure the project will be a big success and said he is pleased the Highlands are to be graced by it.
"I had a great time," he said. "If I was a junior golfer here, I would want to go there and hit some balls all the time."
Lawrie is best known for triumphing at the 1999 Open Championship at Carnoustie in a four-hole play-off, after rival golfer Jean Van de Velde blew his chances of victory on the last hole and famously took off his socks and shoes to paddle in the Barry Burn after a wayward shot.
He recently finished tied for 30th place at the Castello Masters despite being an early pace-setter at the event.
