Golf fashion was changed by Payne Stewart, who died ten years agoTen years on from the death of golfer Payne Stewart, one publication has reflected on his contribution to golf fashion.

Readers of the Evening Post are reminded of Stewart's choice of plus-fours - as opposed to the more conservative plus-twos - and its lasting effect on golf fashion after his death.

"Having noticed and admired the Australian pro Rodger Davis who was a regular wearer of plus-two trousers, the American went a step further and took to the baggier plus-fours," the publication explains.

This developed from a talking point to a source of earnings for the star - as well as becoming his calling card - the article adds.

Ultimately, the news provider claims, Stewart became as renowned for his choice of golf clothing as for his game.

Stewart was remembered earlier in the summer of 2009 with the official opening on June 6th of the Payne Stewart Golf Club in Branson, Missouri.
