US president Barack Obama has been spotted donning his golf clothing and teeing off during his festive holiday to his native Hawaii.

The president has been holidaying in the state with his wife Michelle and their two daughters, with family friends also joining them for part of the getaway.

He was seen playing golf at the Luana Hills Country Golf Club, a course which may require golfers to invest in some golf clothing which keeps them cool on the fairway in the famously hot Hawaii weather.

The golf course website noted that on pulling on their golf clothing and heading to the venue, golfers can expect to be playing in surroundings which include tropical jungles and "wandering streams".

"Luana Hills is waiting to treat you to lush fairways and manicured greens," golfers are told.

Last Christmas, Obama was seen enjoying a game on the same course, dressed in a white polo golf shirt and light coloured trousers, accessorised with a cap and shades.
