Lifetime Achievement award winner Seve Ballesteros swaps his golf clothing for black tie at the BBC's ceremony on Sunday.

The television audience for this year's Sports Personality of the Year Award could find Seve Ballesteros's golf clothing makes an appearance on their TV screens.

He is due to pick up a special award at the 2009 ceremony, in honour of his contribution to the sport.

And while he may be dressed to the nines for the prestigious event, magic moments such as his runner-up placing at Royal Birkdale in 1976 could get an airing, featuring the star in his more familiar garb of golf clothing.

The Press Association explains that this was the first time Ballesteros was brought to the golf world's attention on a large scale, as he claimed the runner-up spot at the age of 19.

Ballesteros is due to receive the Lifetime Achievement award at Sunday's BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony, a regular feature on families' viewing schedules in the run-up to Christmas.

The main shortlist for the Sports Personality of the Year Award itself features British world champions including Jenson Button, Beth Tweddle and Jessica Ennis.
