Royal Belgian Golf Federation

The Federation of the Belgian Golf Clubs was created on March 19th 1912 thanks to the impetus of Edmond Solvay, Captain of the Royal Golf Club of Belgium.
Edmond Solvay was in regular contact with the major European Clubs and quickly felt the need to give a structure to the development of golf in Belgium. He became the first president of the Federation and ensured for many years the selection of the national teams.
In these early days, the Federation counted 7affiliated Clubs: Ravenstein, Ostend, Spa, Antwerp, Lombardzijde, Gent and Knokke.
Today, Belgium numbers 78 Clubs and more than 47.000 members.

The aim of the Federation is to encourage the development of the game of golf in Belgium and to serve as its organising body: it constitutes the link between the R&A and the Belgian Clubs in all matters related to rules, course rating and handicap control. It seeks perfection in all golfing matters. This is also why it is dedicating so much energy in training and improving our champions.
In this context, the Federation’s highest assignment is to organise the National Tours as well as the participation of our best players in International Championships.
The Royal Belgian Golf Federation counts 4 employees and numerous volunteers devoting much of their time for the love of golf.
