With Christmas fast approaching, it gets more and more difficult to fit in a game on the green in December. But whether you want to relax on the course or avoid letting your practice slip, here’s the five best excuses for getting out there this festive season…

Extra bank holidays
There’s two extended weekends to look forward to this season thanks to the added bank holidays, which makes it the perfect time to head out onto the green – what else are you supposed to do with all that spare time? Make the most of the time off work to get in a couple of extra games.

Spend time with your friends and family
Christmas time is a time to spend with friends and family, so why not take them along to your local golf club for a few rounds? Whether they’re golfing naturals or completely new to the sport, they’ll love the chance to spend some time together – and you can even fit in a few Christmas golfing games, too.

Blow off the Christmas dinner cobwebs

Test-run your Christmas presents
Whether you’ve asked for a new golf jumper or a set of clubs, the time between Christmas and the New Year is the perfect chance to set out on the course to test your new wares. Your family will love seeing you put your gifts to use.

Set yourself up for your New Year resolutions
Have you made your golfing New Year’s resolutions yet? Set some time aside to get out onto the green and get a feel for what it is you want to work on next year. Whether it’s improving your handicap or refining your swing, getting a practice in before the New Year is a great way to reflect on your next steps and get excited for what 2018 will bring.
