It is a great time of the year to head out on the course. The leaves on the trees are starting to change colour and the rain has softened the fairways and greens, making them a little more forgiving, but you need to make sure your wardrobe is appropriate, not just for the cooler weather, but also for the new season’s styles.

Designs

Autumn is often associated with the countryside, so it’s no surprise the heritage look is very much in this season. On the catwalks, this came out in Prince of Wales checks and tweeds.

At Glenmuir, we’ve always embraced our heritage through items like our Official Ryder Cup zip neck sweaters.

Bright stripes are also big this season, bringing a touch of colour to the grey days. Our V-neck golf sweater combines a vibrant yellow with white stripes across the shoulder.

Styles

With the 90s being one of the big design influences this year, it’s no surprise that sportswear and zip-up tops were featured heavily on the catwalks for autumn winter collections.

As a sportswear provider, we’ve got plenty of zip-up tops that will help you stay warm and stylish on the fairways and in the clubhouse, and our outerwear is smart enough to be worn casually for a round or while having a whisky post-game.

After you’ve finished up on the 18th and are heading into the warmth of the clubhouse, to stay on trend when ordering your cocktails by the fire you’ll need a velvet jacket. These will be everywhere this season and are popular with both men and women. We suggest going dark blue with a pale blue V-neck cotton sweater underneath.

Colours

This season’s colours are a mixed bunch ranging from traditional autumnal tones like burnt oranges and spicy mustards, to pale blues and pinks, which are a holdover from the pastel-inspired summer ranges.

For blues as it’s autumn – we suggest dressing a tone warmer than the baby blue that was everywhere this summer. Our merino wool sweaters come in a range of colours, with the navy a great choice this season.

For both men and women, pink will still be in, but again try and go for something a little deeper in tone. Our water repellent jacket in hot magenta will add a splash of colour to any outfit. It can be worn over your usual outfit to keep the rain off, or under a more formal raincoat to give your outfit the sportswear look that’s so popular this season.

Finally, we were seeing a lot of white on the catwalks. It’s a hard look to pull off – especially if you’re out playing muddy courses – but it can look perfect if done right.

If you’re feeling brave, go for a pair of our white stretch golf trousers, which can be worn with pretty much anything. For those who think they might not be able to keep their trouser cuffs clean, try the long sleeved polo shirt in white – it’ll also look great under your navy velvet jacket.
