Professional at the Weston Park club near Norwich for the past 11 years, few returned a three under-par 68 at the region's new headquarters to finish alongside Pat Winston at the top of the leader board.
They now go forward, along with the 17 other qualifiers, to the final stages of the £78,000 event at Southport & Ainsdale from 10 - 13 August where the winner will pocket £10,000 and earn valuable points towards a place in the Great Britain & Ireland team in the PGA Cup Matches at The K Club, Dublin next year.
And Few is already looking forward to making up for the disappointment suffered on his only previous appearance in the event in 1996.
"I got in as a reserve at County Louth but injured my back just beforehand and although I still played, I couldn't really do myself justice," he said.
"I'm really looking forward to playing as much as I can this year being the East Region captain and the Glenmuir will definitely be one of the highlights.
"I would certainly have taken 68 beforehand because it was a pretty tough day with the wind and rain, although the course was in fantastic condition."
Few started with 11 straight pars before birdies at the 12th, 13th and 14th holes saw him dip into red figures.
Winston, who represents the A1 Driving Range in Hertfordshire, had posted his 68 much earlier in the day to clinch a third appearance in the Glenmuir decider having previously qualified at Co Louth and St Andrews last year.
"It was a decent round of golf and the only disappointment was three-putting the last for a bogey," said Winston.
Few and Winston finished one stroke ahead of a five-man group which included former European Tour pro Robin Mann.
