The 30-nation tournament, organised by the PGAs of Europe, kicks off just as the advent calendars are opened on December 2-5, and is played over 72 holes at the PGA-branded Roda Golf and Beach Resort, in Spain.

The Scots line-up this year with the exact trio of players who walked off with the prestigious title, and €6,000, in some style last year - Craig Lee, Sam Cairns and James McKinnon.

The three have a useful advantage over the rest of the field having played with each other, played the course and, most importantly, triumphed.

Last year the Scots took a two-shot first round lead in the two-better-ball-of-three-each-day format and never relinquished that advantage, eventually taking victory by three strokes ahead of the fast-chasing Irish, with Wales and Norway third and England coming home fifth.

The English team go into the event with some confidence fielding three of this year's GB&I PGA Cup team who lost so narrowly to the US in Georgia back in September - James Whatley, Michael Nesbit and Danny Taylor.

There is more PGA Cup flavour in the Welsh challenge with Georgia veteran Andrew Barnett joined by Peter Evans and James Lee.

Last year's runners-up Ireland will be represented by Brendan McGovern, Robert Giles and Leslie Walker
