These creepy courses are filled with tricks and treats…

Banff Springs Golf Course, Banff, Canada
Golf clubs have been dream wedding venues for many happy couples. But one ceremony in the early 1930s at Fairmont Baff Springs ended up more of a nightmare. When a bride made her way down the limestone staircase in the elegant hotel, her flowing gown caused her to trip and fall on her big day. Today, guests claim to see a ghostly figure dancing alone in the venue while wearing a wedding dress.

Rochford Hundred Golf Club, Essex, England
The clubhouse at Rochford was the one-time home to the Boleyn family, where Henry VIII is rumoured to have met his second wife Anne for the first time. Until this day her sister Mary is believed to wander the halls in the Elizabethan building. Staff at the club claim to have seen buckets and chairs move by themselves and have caught glimpses of apparitions moving through rooms. The faint-hearted should avoid the third and most active floor.

Creepy Golf Courses

The White Witch, Montego Bay, Jamaica
Annie Palmer is said to haunt the grounds at Rose Hall, a grand 18th century estate at the centre of a championship course. Palmer practiced voodoo and shortly after moving into the Great House killed her husband John. The White Witch didn’t finish there and went on to marry and murder two more victims. Images of her ghostly apparition adorn the entrance hall at the start of the venue’s night-time tour.

Mount Lawley Golf Club, Perth, Australia
The 11th hole at Mount Lawley is unplayable for some and that’s without teeing off. Known as the ‘Devil’s Elbow’, the par-four-hole was the site of a suicide in the 1930s when a young man took his own life by drinking poison. Golfers have reported a sense of terror while walking the course and some have even spotted apparitions and orbs on the fairways.

City Park Golf Course, New Orleans, USA
Before duelling was outlawed in the 1800s, City Park was the site of combat between feuding men and their battle cries can be heard today. Golfers claim to hear screams from disembodied voices while others report the sight of a ghostly figure standing obediently behind the 18th green. Many believe the apparition isn’t a sword-wielding fighter but ‘Blackie’ Pustiano, the ex-caddy of the great Harry Cooper in the 1930s.
