Across the UK, golfers are preparing for a quiet few months as the shorter days and plummeting temperatures mean it’s harder to play a good game. But if your local club can’t provide you with the conditions you need this winter, there’s plenty of popular spots around the world perfect for an autumn or winter golf break.

Marrakech, Morocco
Pair a sunny golf break with visits to vibrant souks and grand mosques, and you’ve got a trip to Marrakech, Morocco. With so many first-class courses on offer, you can choose to stay in the medina, surrounded by ancient Moroccan architecture, or out of town in a golf resort.

South of the city, you’ll find plenty of golf courses surrounded by lush greenery, while courses in the nearby desert of Amelkis boast the Atlas Mountains as a stunning backdrop.

The Algarve, Portugal
The Algarve plays host to the Portugal Masters every year, so there’s a great selection of courses to choose from for your break. Vilamoura is just one of the key areas to focus your search on, but the region as a whole has a huge 39 courses on offer.

Dubai
Expect plenty of luxury when you enjoy a winter golf break in Dubai. This city has some of the world’s richest residents and business travellers, so you can bet its golf courses are up to scratch – from immaculate greens to five-star club houses, it’s truly top quality. The weather is hot all year round, so prepare for conditions similar to a hot summer’s day in the UK.

Looking for a good course in Dubai? Try Al Badia Golf Course, an oasis-themed course with plenty of challenging water hazards, or head to the Emirates Golf Club for a 36-hole course with night golf on offer, too.

Florida
For proper winter sun, head to Florida, otherwise known as the golfing capital of the US. The famous Bay Hill Club has played host to golfing stars, while Miami and Fort Lauderdale are lined with beach-side courses.

Try Naples Beach or the Stadium course at Sawgrass for a challenge. Disney World has four courses to choose from, while you can even have a go on the president’s own golf course at Trump National.
