YouGov’s latest poll declared that 70 per cent of British people think golf is a boring sport. We’ve all heard the stereotype again and again. Most people think that it’s a game of waiting, but that’s not the case. Here are five reasons we think golf is anything but boring. |

3. You’re always discovering new things Whether it’s a course you’ve never played on before or a new way to approach a hole, golfers are always learning. While courses do have similarities, no two courses are ever exactly alike. And because you’re often playing with other people, you’re always picking up new tips and tricks – which is why golfers are always evolving to be better players. 4. It’s a social sport Unlike more fast-paced games, golf gives you the chance to socialise with your fellow players while you’re on the green. From comparing notes on holes to exchanging quips while you’re in between plays, you’re always around people on the green – and the social side of things continues in the bar afterwards, too. 5. It keeps you on your toes Every golfer knows that no two games are the same on the green. Even if you play the same course, there are so many variations – weather, wind, and even how you’re feeling on that day – that it’s impossible to play the same game twice. That’s why it’s such a humbling game, too – you might think you’ve completed a course, only to perform badly the next time you play. There’s always room for improvement. |
