The 24-year-old from Florida has taken the 2014 title a year after it was given to his housemate Peter Uihlein.

Koepka, who turned professional in 2012, finished his first full season on the Tour by winning the Turkish Airlines Open.

That victory helped him to finish eighth in the 2014 Race to Dubai, the European Tour's money list that was headed by Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy.

Koepka, pictured wearing a stylish blue golf shirt , said winning the Rookie of the Year award had capped an amazing year in which he'd worked hard to be successful.

Other European Tour highlights have included third place finishes in the Dubai Desert Classic and the Omega European Masters.

Elsewhere Koepka finished joint fourth in the US Open and joint 15th in the US PGA Championship.
