The 35-year-old now aims to win the Ryder Cup when he pulls on his golf clothing in Scotland later this year.

Bubba will join United States captain Tom Watson in an attempt to end Europe's current dominance of the Ryder Cup in September.

The Europe side have won seven out of the last nine tournaments, including in 2012 with the memorable 'Miracle at Medinah' when Jose Maria Olazabal's side came back from being 10-6 down on the final day.

Watson was one of the first to congratulate Bubba on his Augusta win as he wrote on Twitter: "Way to go Bubba! Enjoy your victory. See you on the plane to Gleneagles."

Upon realising he had made the team, Bubba said: "I love it, going over there (to Scotland) and playing golf, so I can't wait.

"I haven't won a Ryder Cup yet, so that's the next big tournament I'd like to win."
