Williams, a 50-year-old New Zealander, has been working on the tour since the 1970s and before working with Scott was Tiger Woods' caddie during 13 of his 14 major wins.
Australian Scott, 34, says he has been flattered to see so much interest in the job but insists he will take his time to consider who he wants as his new caddie.
The majority of inquiries have come from working caddies - some of them employed by other top players - but some have also come from people outside the professional game.
