Glenmuir has been appointed as an Official Licensee of The Open in a new five-year agreement running from 2026, facilitated through The R&A's strategic retail and licensing partner Fanatics.

The appointment brings together golf's original championship and one of golf's oldest brands. The Open was first played in 1860. Glenmuir was founded in 1891. Between them, they account for more than 290 years of the game's history.

A curated collection for Royal Birkdale

For this year's Championship, Glenmuir has curated a focused collection of knitwear, polo shirts and outerwear that reflect Glenmuir's heritage and expertise alongside the prestige of The Open itself.

The collection features the Claret Jug on pieces curated from Glenmuir's core range, chosen specifically for their quality of construction and subtlety of design. The full Glenmuir collection will also be available with Open branded embroidery for golfers who want to mark the occasion on their favourite Glenmuir styles through www.glenmuir.com/theopen

"The Open is where many of golf's traditions were forged. It felt right that our collections for The Open should reflect that same sense of restraint and quality. We have selected pieces that could sit comfortably in any clubhouse, on any links, without needing to announce themselves. That is what good golf clothing has always done," said Mikhel Ruia, Managing Director of Glenmuir.

A campaign rooted in the traditions of The Open

To accompany the collection, Glenmuir has produced a short film that captures the brand's relationship with The Open through a lens of quiet humour and understated observation. Shot on some of Britain’s finest links land, the film follows Glenmuir's own informal assessment of what it takes for a garment to stand alongside the traditions of the Championship.

From the question of whether a sweater is worthy enough to sit next to the Claret Jug, can respect the occasion, navigate the weather; the film celebrates the small, unspoken rituals of championship golf that Glenmuir has dressed golfers for since 1891.

The film will be released across Glenmuir's digital channels in the weeks leading up to the Championship.

A partnership built on shared heritage

"Glenmuir's heritage in Scottish golf and their reputation for quality knitwear made them a natural fit for The Open's official merchandise programme. Their curated approach to the collection reflects the kind of thoughtfulness and authenticity that the Championship represents," said Matt Tomlinson, Head of Retail at The R&A.
Glenmuir's official collection for The Open will be available at The Open Shop at Royal Birkdale during championship week (16-20 July 2026), online at shop.randa.org, www.glenmuir.com, and through select host venue partners.
