Spaniard Jimenez, who sustained the injury while skiing in Spain in winter, will pull on his golf clothing and hit the green again after his four-month absence at the Parador de El Saler course near Valencia tomorrow.

The 49-year-old, who has won the European Tour 19 times and is the oldest winner in the tour's history, will be playing in his 599th event on the circuit.

Jiminez, popular with golf fans for his 'I-do-what-I-like' attitude and fondness for cigars, will be looking to add to the four top-10 finishes he has secured in 25 appearances in the Spanish Open.

The event, one of the oldest tournaments in the world, was the first tournament ever played on the European Tour in April 1972.

Last year's winner was Francesco Molinari, who became the first Italian to win the event.
