Martin, who looked great in a pair of golf trousers , had carded a superb 62 in the previous round.

But a faltering start to the final round had allowed two of his rivals - Kevin Streelman and Webb Simpson - to draw level at the top of the leaderboard at one stage.

But Martin held his nerve and had his late flourish to thank for helping him to card a three-under-par 68 in the closing round.

The total was enough to put Martin, who turned professional in 2010, two shots ahead of second-placed Streelman and land him his maiden PGA Tour victory.

Streelman, 35, had produced a late charge of his own, sinking birdies on five of the last seven holes to card a final round of 65 and fire him up the leaderboard.

Following his victory in Las Vegas a relieved Martin admitted his play in the early stages of the final round had been a bit too conservative.
