The eight-time European Tour winner will help to sponsor the Scottish Ladies Open Tour through his foundation that helps youngsters to get into golf.
Lawrie, who proudly wore the golf clothes of Team Europe at September's Ryder Cup, has been joined by Aberdeen Asset Management chief executive Martin Gilbert and Aberdeen hotel boss Stewart Spence in providing financial support for the tour.
"Paul, Martin and I agreed that this was something that deserved our support, giving us the chance to widen the scope of what we already do," Spence told the Scotsman.
The trio are prepared to stump up £1,000 per event to go towards each tournament's prize fund.
Carnoustie, Downfield, Dalmahoy and the Duke's course at St. Andrews have all been confirmed as venues where women will be pulling on their golf clothing for this year's tour, with several others expected to be named shortly.
"Our country needs such a tour to help develop our leading players and unless they are already on the LET (Ladies European Tour) then there is very little for the women to play in and compete," Dalmahoy director of golf, Alain Tait said.
Having the backing of Paul Lawrie, Stewart Spence and Martin Gilbert is a terrific start for the Tour and I am optimistic that the series of events will grow in the next few years."
