Golf star Colin Montgomerie is set to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame next year.

The sporting star, who has worn Glenmuir golf clothing at a number of tournaments, was elected through an international ballot and will be honoured along with fellow inductees Ken Schofield, Fred Couples, Willie Park Jnr and Ken Venturi in May next year.

"It is a wonderful surprise to hear that I will be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame next year," Montgomerie said.

"I know I am very fortunate to have enjoyed such a successful career playing the game I love and it makes me feel very proud that my achievements have been recognised in this way."

Over the course of his golfing career, Montgomerie was European number one for eight years and captained the winning European Ryder Cup side in 2010.

The induction ceremony will take place at the World Golf Village in St Augustine, Florida, where hopefully Colin will have time to pull on his golf trousers and play a few holes too.
