The 24-year-old, from Denmark, saw off the challenge of Frenchman Victor Dubuisson at Lake Karrinyup Country Club. He kept a three-shot lead throughout the final round, finishing on 17 under.

Dubuisson carded a closing 66, with six birdies into the bargain in a bogey-free round. Olesen, who took to the tee in white golfing trousers , was one over par through 12 holes, but birdied the 13th and 15th to take a firm grasp of the tournament.

The Dane, who ranks at 130 in the world, scored his maiden win on the tour at the 2012 Sicilian Open.

He said that he had found the going tough as conditions were not easy.

Mark Foster took third place on 12 under, just one shot ahead of James Morrison, David Drysdale, Lucas Bjerregaard, Steve Dartnall and Australian Matthew Griffin, who all tied for fourth.
