The Aberdonian – a proud wearer of Glenmuir shirts and knitwear – shot up to 29th in the Official World Rankings, making him the highest ranked Scottish golfer for the first time in his career.
Lawrie’s performance also means that he now sits at 2nd place on the European points list (the top 5 of which qualify for a place in the European Ryder Cup team).
The Scotsman was recently honoured ahead of the Volvo World Matchplay to mark his 500th European Tour appearance.
He has been on fine form in 2012, winning the Qatar Masters back in February and getting off to a great start at Augusta in April.
