Midge Ure will perform Ultravox's classic synch-pop anthem backed by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO), during the Ryder Cup Gala Concert.

The cream of two continents' golfers from US and Europe will be wearing their Ryder Cup 2014 golf clothing when the biennial battle recommences on Friday, September 26.

But two days before this, a star-studded concert will celebrate the Perthshire sporting event with a spectacular curtain raiser at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.

The gig will see 60-year-old Band Aid star Ure join Twin Atlantic, Danny Wilson, Amy Macdonald, Nina Nesbitt, Eddi Reader, Jake Bugg, Glasgow-based Texas and Chic's Nile Rodgers on stage.

The one-off concert will also feature the National Theatre of Scotland, Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet.

Macdonald is due to join the RSNO's string section for a version of Mr Rock & Roll.

Rodgers will perform a classical rendition of Get Lucky, which brought him success with Daft Punk besides other songs such as Le Freak and Good Times.
