The Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake holds good memories for Woods as he won the third of his three Opens there in 2006.

He may be a little rusty as he pulls on his golf clothing after his appearance at the Quicken Loans National at Congressional last month, where he missed the halfway cut following surgery on his back.

Woods, who has won 14 major titles in all, will tee off at 9.04am with Henrik Stenson and Angel Cabrera. Woods has not played in a tournament of any kind since he missed the cut at Congressional but he was happy with his game after 12 practice holes on Saturday and a full 18 on Sunday.

After Woods' group, the next two tee times see Padraig Harrington, twice an Open winner, play with Charl Schwartzel and KJ Choi.

The best player in the world in the run-up to the Open, Rory McIlroy will go round with Jordan Speith and Hideki Matsuyama.

David Howell will hit the first drive of the tournament at 6.25am, followed by his playing partners David Duval and Robert Karlsson.
