The four-day tournament, which tees-off at Augusta on Thursday April 9, is the first major of the season.

Woods, pictured in trademark golf trousers , left the world speculating as to whether he would be in the line-up. The 39-year-old legend took a break from the game after continuing his poor run of form and injuries into 2015.

But he announced on Friday that he will make his comeback at Augusta. Woods declared himself happy with his form after an 11-hole practice on the course.

The winner of 14 majors said all along he would only compete if he felt he had a chance of winning.

And the so-called "chipping yips" which marked his game during his last full tournament at the Waste Management Phoenix Open were seemingly eradicated during his practice.

He played alongside Mark O'Meara, his long-standing friend, on the first nine then went on to play holes 10 and 18 alone.

Woods admitted that he wanted to test his chipping and said his overall game had progressed and is "finally there" to put him in with a chance of winning.

He has only completed at one event this year. That was at Phoenix, where he carded a career-worst 82, before withdrawing through injury last time out only 11 holes into the Farmers Insurance Open in February.
