The Australian will be wearing his lucky golf clothing as he needs to succeed at the Blue Monster course, which has been extensively remodelled, and hope Woods finishes outside the top 10.

Greg Norman was the last Australian to sit top of the world rankings, holding the title for 331 weeks in the 1980s and 1990s.

Scott's bid to become the world's number one golfer for the first time could be aided by question marks surrounding the fitness of Woods, who pulled out of last week's Honda Classic 13 holes into his final round after back spasms.

But the 38-year-old insists he is ready to compete and defend his top ranking following lengthy treatment.

"I feel better; I feel good," he said in his pre-tournament press conference. "It's been a long couple of days of treatment, non-stop, but my treatments have been fantastic."

Whatever happens, it's guaranteed to be an exciting four days in Miami.

Scott admits it would be a "dream come true" to be leapfrog Woods and be crowned number one in the world.
